Little Boy or Little Girl?

Tomorrow is a special day for us, we will found out if this sweet baby is a little boy or little girl. At first, I was sure it was a boy, then I was sure it was a girl, and now.... goodness I have no idea! We will be surprised and so excited either way. I've had some fun with the old wive's tales about gender and these are my answers:

Heartbeat?  Above 140  - Girl

Sweet or Salty? Salty - Boy

Breakouts? Oh yes - Girl

String Test?  Boy

Sickness? No - Boy

Carrying High? Yes - Girl

Dry Hands? No - Girl

Sleeping on the left? No - Boy

Dreams? I've had several dreams that it was a Boy

Intuition? Ahh I have no idea!

Not very conclusive, but it is so fun to guess!

17 Week Update

17 weeks! When did that happen? I am *almost* at the half-way point,  and only a short week away from finding out the gender of this sweet little baby. I'm feeling amazing these days thanks to the second trimester. My energy is back, so I have been working on doing some organizing around our house making room for the baby shopping that will inevitably happen very soon. The baby is the size of a pomegranate this week... or about 5 inches long for those of you who don't require fruit themed visual aids. My little bump is growing every day, and it is truly amazing to see. I'm still not fully sure that I have felt movement yet. There have been 3 times where I was thinking that maybeee that was it, but I am so ready to feel some sweet kicks in the weeks to come.  

Planning the Nursery

We are only two weeks away from finding out the gender of sweet baby! Ive been gathering inspiration for the nursery decor, and so far I am thinking modern, minimalist, and a little bohemian. Regardless of gender, I have the basic pieces picked out. I'm planning on taking the accessories and textiles more masculine or feminine depending on the gender. As much as I love to DIY, I dont want to end up with several unfinished projects by the time the baby comes so I am limiting myself to one special project... a woven tapestry. I recently purchased a loom and I cant wait to pick out some yarn and get started.

12 Week Update

I am ridiculously excited to see a little bump! Some days it is bigger than others, but usually in the evenings it seems so noticeable. I am still in all my normal clothes with the exception of a pair of H&M maternity leggings that are oh so nice! I am feeling great and starting to regain some energy. I am also finding that small meals and snacks throughout the day are a must have. Cravings have come and gone in phases, but this week I am all about the tabasco sauce.

Today, baby is the size of a plum, how cute is that? We heard the heartbeat at our doctor's appointment this week. It was amazing. She said we will find out the gender in 6 weeks. So far, I have thought it was definitely a boy, but in the past few days I am leaning towards girl. We shall see!

We are expecting a...

Oh my goodness we are sooo excited to share our wonderful news! We have a sweet little baby on the way! We are expecting to meet him / her  a couple weeks after our 2nd Wedding Anniversary in May.

Baby is currently 10 weeks, and according to all of the fun pregnancy apps, the size of a Strawberry. I have been feeling really good overall, just lots of fatigue. I am told that should be going away soon, and the second trimester is a bit easier. I can see a tiny little baby bump that kind of looks like I just ate a big lunch, but it is still so fun to watch it grow.

Kitchen Dreamin'

All of the rooms in our home have kind of come together easily. I had a good feel for what I wanted and was able to slowly collect the pieces to make it happen. Our kitchen, however, has been a bit more of a challenge. I knew I wanted white walls and white cabinets so a good coat of paint did the trick. The floors and counters are meh. I think I would do white quartz or white concrete if I could change it, but being a rental we are making the floors and countertops work. Honestly I don't really notice them anymore so this space is feeling like a blank slate that I am ready to tackle. The layout is a challenge, and I am still not fully decided on the feel of the space other than really fresh and modern.  Anyway, these are the current photos and pretty things that I am swooning over!

Even with lots of the counter space being used, all the similar colors make it feel not feel too cluttery or busy. Again, no uppers, just beautiful open shelving! I love this kitchen! The brass knobs are also a beautiful nod to simplistic mid century modern design.

A Peek into Our Living Room

As you can tell from my last post, it is really amazing what a coat of paint can do! When we first moved in we used this room as our dining room. I loved it, but since we rarely used a formal dining room, it felt like such a waste of space. We did a big ole swap which was so much work, but now it feels so worth it. This room gets so much light and is definitely our favorite and most space in the whole house! 

I also love this room because it is the home of my beloved Ikea Karlstad.... my dream sofa. I wanted one forever and snagged this one just before they were discontinued (which is a whole other tearful rant). I wanted a white cover, but they only had grey in stock. It had to grow on be, but now I am really happy with it. As much use as it gets, I'm not sure how the white would have held up. I have washed the covers once and they came out as good as new. Gosh, I could go on forever about this sofa.
